Our Vision
The Greater Cabarrus Reading Association (GCRA) is a group of individuals who are dedicated to promoting literacy in Cabarrus County.
We extend our literacy involvement to our community with free events promoting reading for children of all ages. Previously, we have held events such as Seuss at the Mall, Target Reading Nights and Celebrating Fire Safety with the Kannapolis Fire Department. We have also held Read for the Record Events in coordination with the Concord Rotary. Little Free Libraries, throughout the community, are supplied with books for all to enjoy by its members through local donations.
Creative writing is encouraged and acknowledges through our annual Young Authors writing contest in conjunction with the North Carolina Reading Association.
Additionally, GCRA provides professional development for those interested educators and parents through on-line sessions, mini-conferences, and guest authors.
